Sexual Harassment Continuing Education

  • Pursuant to state law and regulations, "The sexual harassment prevention training course shall only be provided by existing Division-approved continuing education providers or by persons or entities who become Division-approved continuing education providers." (click here for approved CE providers)
  • Requirements of a sexual harassment prevention course at a minimum, the following topics:
    • What is sexual harassment, including its forms and types;
    • What should one do if one experiences or witnesses unwelcome sexual contact;
    • Reporting sexual harassment within one's place of employment and to outside entities, such as the Illinois Department of Human Rights; and
    • Whistleblower protections.

Note: the sexual harassment awareness CE course does not require a separate CE provider approval. Any person or entity who is an approved CE provider may offer the sexual harassment awareness CE course.

Domestic Violence Continuing Education

  • The Domestic Violence CE requirement of the 2016 law (Public Act 99-766) was not effective until after January 1, 2019
  • The Domestic Violence CE requirement was in effect for the September 2019 licensure renewals for cosmetologists and estheticians
  • If you completed the Domestic Violence course at America’s Beauty Show in Chicago in the spring of 2016, 2017, or 2018 you are in compliance and do not have to take the course again, click here for IDFPR notice updated 12-13-18
  • For a 2019 Domestic Violence CE course that an individual takes, it must be done by a vendor/sponsor approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • IDFPR is accepting applications for vendors/sponsors seeking approval to do a Domestic Violence CE, click here for application instructions
  • The Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Hair Braiding, and Nail Technology Board met on February 25th 2019, where applications were reviewed if on file, click here for agenda, and numerous vendors were and have subsequently been approved; click here for approved vendors.
